Construction projects are of different sizes and of different nature and hence the risks associated with them also vary. The authors have made an attempt to analyze the present risk scenario in the construction industry by meeting experts in the field to collect first hand information as a first step towards risk assessment i.e recognizing risk factors that influence the project success. In this context a questionnaire was prepared on the basis of 90 risk factors and filled from construction industry experts. A quantitative analysis technique called Fuzzy Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) is used in estimating the apportionment of various risk factors. The results of the analysis suggests size of project, tender selection methods, location uniqueness, regulatory approvals, contract administration procedures, flow of information and finance are some of the factors that are crucial in terms of project success. The results also indicate that the percentage apportionment of risk in terms of Project Specific factors as14.5%, Owner Specific as15.9% and Contract clause specific as11.9% among various factors that are considered.

Bakhtiar, Khairul Anuar Bin, Shen Li Yin and Misnan Siti Hajar Binti
Sustainable development concept has opened a broad range of understanding and interpretation among people. Researchers have been adopting the concept in various disciplines within their interests of studies. In line with this, the urge of sustainable development has drawn interests among construction professionals. The construction industry is considered having a major role to play in implementing the principles of sustainable development, which leads to the development of the discipline of sustainable construction. A large number of research works have been conducted in investigating the methods for promoting sustainable construction. However there is no study done to look at the effectiveness of these methods developed previously. This paper therefore presents a comprehensive understanding on various methodologies proposed in the existing studies for promoting sustainable construction. An analysis is given on the effectiveness between several typical sustainable construction methods.
