MANAGEMENT OF CONSTRUCTION PROJECT DOCUMENTS USING
MACHINE LEARNING TECHNIQUE

Current research focus in the construction industry is directed at implementation
of an effective information management based integrated system environment.
Integrated system development can be structured with a powerful document
management system, a strong database and use of communication technologies.
Out of these three, implementation of modern communication technology in
construction industry is to some extent difficult. In this study we have restricted
our scope to the document management system. Widespread use of Information
Technology in construction projects is a major reason for increasing e-documents
in Construction Management Information System. One limitation of current
document management information system is manual classification of text
format. The existing way of clustering of a large volume of different project
text components are becoming unfeasible and motivated for establishing the
automated method for text clustering of construction project document. This
paper will describe automated text classification method using some machine
learning technique along with automated process of document collection,
document conversion, feature reduction, document mapping and text classification.
Manual classification gave an impetus to the new way of document classification
for improvement of construction project management for taking decisions at
proper time through the organized collection of clustered project documents.

IDENTIFICATION OF MATERIAL WASTAGE IN RESIDENTIAL
BUILDINGS
CHANDANI KANSARA, S.A.REDDI, RESHMA SHAH
The modus operandi of the study is to locate the nature and quantum of
waste produced on the construction site, and initialization to create awareness
in the industry. Primary objective of the study is to derive the reasons contributing
to the amount of material wasted on residential building sites which needs
to be brought down substantially by devising suitable methods. Entire study
is based on the nature of replies obtained from three different companies.
Major working areas under study are Material Management, Project Management,
Planning, Stores and Housekeeping and Method of execution of works.

PROMOTION OF RET – TOOL FOR MANAGING ENERGY ISSUES
IN INDIA
RANNDIL SHER JATINDER SINGH
Energy crisis has posed a question of sustainability on the development of
different planning sectors. Conventional sources of energy are not going to
sustain for more years therefore long term energy security cannot be attained.
As a result of which renewable energy sources offer a viable option to meet
the future challenge. As on December 31st, 2002, the contribution of renewable
every sources had reached 3700 MW, which is 3.5% of the total grid capacity
in India. This paper addresses key issues in energy sustainability in the
Indian context and also highlights how renewable energy technologies can
provide energy in diverse forms thereby playing a significant role as an
index for sustainable management.
